
The strategic initiative of the state-owned company PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) has brought PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) ready to hand over port operations in four ports, starting from Semarang, Central Java, Gresik, East Java, as well as Selamat and Badas in West Nusa Tenggara
This was emphasized through the Socialization of the Handover of Operations of Badas Port, West Nusa Tenggara, which was held on Tuesday (18/7).
This activity concludes a series of operations handover socialization activities that were previously carried out for Tanjung Emas Harbor, Semarang, on Thursday (6/7), Gresik Harbor, East Java, Tuesday (11/7), and Lembar Harbor, West Lombok. NTB, on Friday, (14/7) 2023.
Specifically on the island of Java, previously, SPMT had operated three ports on the island of Java, namely Jamrud Nilam Mirah in Surabaya, Tanjung Wangi in Banyuwangi, and Tanjung Intan in Cilacap.
Apart from that, SPMT through its subsidiary PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok also manages three non-containerized ports in Java namely in Jakarta, Banten and Cirebon. Meanwhile, Sheet and Badas are the first two ports that will be managed by SPMT in the Nusa Tenggara region.
Pelindo Multi Terminal Corporate Secretary Fiona Sari Utami explained that the socialization of the handover of operations of Badas Port, Lembar Port, Semarang Tanjung Emas Port and Gresik Port from Pelindo to SPMT is part of realizing the mission to provide port services.
Fiona explained that currently SPMT focuses its port services on managing non-container terminals such as liquid bulk, dry bulk, multipurpose terminals, and vehicle terminals, in accordance with the company’s mission as a multipurpose terminal operator by creating an ecosystem that provides added value.
In future practice, explained by Fiona, as terminal operator at Badas Port, Sheet Port, Tanjung Emas Port and Gresik Port, SPMT will optimize and develop terminals in several ways, namely: connecting with other multipurpose terminals; implementing multipurpose terminal management SOP best practices; Operational Excellence; Improvement or standardization of security and safety aspects; and conducting training for certified loading and unloading operators.
Through the handover of port operations at these four ports, SPMT will operate non-container commodity loading and unloading services and container loading and unloading services in Selamat and Badas.
Apart from that, SPMT will also manage People’s Port services in the four ports, as well as TUKS services in Tanjung Emas and Gresik. Meanwhile, outside these four ports, SPMT will later operate the passenger terminal at Parepare Port.
Regarding this matter, Kunto Wibisono as General Manager of Badas Port revealed that regarding the socialization of the handover of operations of Badas Port, NTB welcomed the socialization of the plan for the operation of the Badas Port terminal by SPMT.
Meanwhile, Suripto as Class IV KSOP of Badas Harbor, in his remarks for the socialization of the handover of operations at Badas Harbor, fully supports the implementation of this handover of operations, hoping that this collaboration can provide progress for Sumbawa, NTB.
Suripto expressed his hope that this collaboration could provide progress for Sumbawa, NTB, especially in the Badas port area, as well as industry which would lead to increased welfare for the wider community.
The socialization activity for the handover of operations at Badas Harbor was attended by Kunto Wibisono, General Manager of Badas Harbor, as well as Suripto, Class IV KSOP of Badas Harbor.
Meanwhile, the socialization activity for the handover of Gresik Port operations was attended by Johanes Wahyu as CEO of the Java Sub-Reg of PT Pelindo Indonesia (Persero), and Hotman Siagian, as Head of Port Harbormaster and Class II Gresik Port Authority.
The socialization activity for the handover of Tanjung Emas Port operations was attended by SVP Commercial Pelindo Multi Terminal I Wayan Wirawan, Representative of KSOP Tanjung Emas Semarang, Taufik, Head of Business Guidance and Port Services Section Sartono. The socialization activity for the handover of operations at four ports was also attended by all port stakeholders.
Badas Port in Sumbawa Besar, Sumbawa Regency, since 2013 has officially become a node of economic growth on Sumbawa Island and its surroundings. This port has four piers, speeding up the process of loading and unloading goods. Meanwhile, Lembar Port is located in Lembar, West Lombok Regency, NTB, serving cargo ships and passenger ships.
The Port of Tanjung Emas in Semarang, Central Java serves general cargo loading and unloading activities. Meanwhile, Gresik Port, which is also known as the passenger and goods port, in its operations provides loading and unloading services in the Gresik industrial area, including loading and unloading of dry bulk, liquid bulk, general cargo and containers.
